Spring Show- Part 2
May 16, 2009 Grand Rapids Barbershop Chapter Great Lakes Chorus 70th Anniversary and the 66th Annual Great Lakes Invitational Show. Royce Auditorium, St. Cecilia Music Center, 24 Ransom NE Grand Rapids MI
This album contains photos from the 2nd half of the show with WGVU radio host David Moore as MC, quartet performances from International Senior Quartet Showtime of Grand Rapids Chapter, District Champion Quartet Chordiology of Huron Valley Chapter, and International Quartet Wildcard of Grand Rapids Chapter performing their farewell show. Performing the overlay to the chorus finale America The Beautiful was the quartet Moxxy of Battle Creek, Lansing, Motor City Metro, and Huron Valley Chapters. The chorus finale photos near the end taken from the audience were by Grand Rapids Chorus Sweet Adelines member Sandra Recker.
Chapter President and Show Chairman Doug Weaver, on behalf of the Chorus, presents Wildcard with plaques of gratitude and recognition of their contributions and retirement.
The dynamic quartet Wildcard was formed in late 2003 and has quickly risen to the highest rankings of quartets in the area. In 2004 they won the Pioneer District Quartet Champions topping 16 other professional quartets and then in 2008 they won as the 2008 Pioneer District International Quartet Representatives.
With the retirment of Wildcard member and GLC Chorus Director Curt Struyk this will be Wildcard's farewell performance.

Chordiology has been competing off and on at Pioneer District Barbershop Quartet competitions since the late 1990’s. After consistently placing in 6-8th place, we decided to take some time off from competing and focus on improving our singing, and performing more often. That seems to have been a good decision, because in October of 2007 we decided to go to the competition again to see what kind of progress we had made. By gosh, we won the darn thing! No one was more surprised than we were! We’re so grateful to everyone (and there’s about four gazillion of you) who have been a part of Chordiology’s journey so far: every barbershopper we’ve sung tags with ‘til 3am, every coach who has worked with us, every retirement home resident who has smiled as we sang “Hi Neighbor!”, and most important, our wives who support us through it all, even when we forgot to tell them about tonight’s rehearsal.

Side note; GLC member Greg Rhodes donated 4 show tickets to the Grand Rapids Rotary Club which were purchased by arts advocates Mr & Mrs Charles Royce Sr. (Chuck & Stella). Their grandchildren are in the fifth generation of the family to be involved with the St. Cecilia Music Center that named its auditorium for the Royce family. They were in attendance at the concert and enjoyed it immensely.
