Assistant Director Aaron Bouwman    




Aaron Bouwman is associate director of choirs for Cornerstone University where he directs Chancel Singers.  With a master of music degree in choral conducting from Michigan State University and a bachelor degree in music education from Western Michigan University, Mr. Bouwman has recently contributed to the local community by serving as associate choir director for Rockford High School, assistant director for the Michigan State University State Singers, and choir director for Knollcrest Music Camp at Calvin College.  As assistant director of the Blue Lake International Choir and director/soloist with the Rockford International Touring Choir, Mr. Bouwman has led three European tours.  Nationally his choirs have sung in New York's Carnegie Hall, and at Washington C.C's World War II memorial, the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, and most recently in the Kennedy Center, where he conducted the Rockford Touring Choir in May 2008 as part of the National Memorial Day concert celebration.  He is well known as an active clinician and educator in Western Michigan. 

Propelling students from his private voice studio to consistently receive Division 1 ratings at District and State Solo Ensemble Festivals as well as procuring roles at Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo Civic Theaters, Mr. Bouwman's performing credits include Camerata Singers of Muskegon, Michigan State University Chorale at the Miami 2007 National American Chorale Directors Association Convention, Opera Grand Rapids, eight seasons as director/performer with the Caroling Company of Grand Rapids, as well as seven seasonal with the Evangelical Choral Society where he is frequently featured as a tenor soloist and currently serves as president.  Additionally, he has played roles in Kiss Me Kate, Sweeny Todd, and Peter Pan at Grand Rapids Civic Theater; and in the theater community is known as music director, vocal coach, and sound designer.
